Is it a mindset?

Romans 12:2 KJV: “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

What does it take to believe that we are wealthy, successful and healthy?

The meaning of the word prosperity is: “the condition of being successful or thriving.” (Merriam webster.com Dictionary). The Collins Dictionary defines a thriving person as follows: “If someone or something thrives, they do well and are successful, healthy or strong.”

Every person has a picture in their head of what their life would look like if they were successful. Maybe your picture is influenced by what you see around you or on social media. Maybe it is influenced by your culture or how you grew up.

For a long time my picture was influenced by what others thought of me. Did I drive a nice enough car, did we live in a good neighbourhood, do I have a successful career and the list went on. Yet I wasn’t thriving. I never felt good enough and wasn’t content. I didn’t realise that we each have a unique place of thriving. A place God has for us that was uniquely made for us. A place where we could serve the body of Christ with our gifts and talents and fulfil our God-given assignment.

Jeremiah 29:11 KJV “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” God has good thoughts about us. He wants us to live lives that are joyful and peaceful. He wants us to thrive.

I’ve done a lot of growing in the area of goalsetting these past 2 years. I was struggling with my health and one day out of sheer desperation started to search for videos on purpose. (I know this is strange, why not search for health topics, right?) I came upon a video by Terri Savelle Foy about organising your life. I started to watch it and made notes along the way. It was as if something just started to click. Immediately I felt like I wasn’t alone in my struggle with what my purpose was but was led to someone who had walk the walk. This one video led me on a journey to find my purpose and building a vision of what success in my life could look like. Through the power of the Holy Spirit I set dreams and goals that I otherwise wouldn’t have pursued.

We cannot be successful at something if we can’t measure it against something. How does an athlete know they have successfully completed a race? They’ve gone past the finish line. We need a “finish line” . Moreover, what does it matter that we accomplish a great many things, but it has no eternal value.

I constantly challenge myself to maintain a growing mindset. To learn new things that helps me to be a better wife, mother and tutor. I value spiritual growth most of all because it all starts with Jesus.

3 John 1:2 KJV: “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”

The very reason you are even reading this blog today, is because of the dream God put in my heart to create a journal to help others to learn from scripture and draw closer to him. I was set on a journey of transformation by the renewing of my mind through God’s word, and I want to continue to grow.

I’ve set my eyes on the things above and believe I am successful in the eyes of God when I do the good works that He has planned for me.

Is it a mindset? In my opinion, yes. It is a decision to follow Jesus everyday and choosing to see yourself through his eyes.

May the Lord give you the desires of your heart as you grow in your knowledge of Him and put him first.

Catherina
