New directions

Sometimes we need a new approach when we are facing difficulties. Maybe you need some new directions.

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” Rom 8:14 KJV

Do you sometimes need to face a hurdle in order to change the direction you are going? Hurdles are strange things, but how you approach it makes all the difference. The way I see it you can choose one of three approaches: run at top speed and jump over it, run around it and loose valuable time, or stop in front of it and admit defeat.

Taking a new approach to how you handle hurdles in life, may require doing something unfamiliar: like jumping over it, if you are used to running around it or stopping in front of it. It takes courage and confidence that you can accomplish what once seemed impossible. It takes being led by the Spirit and placing your faith in God to lead you on this unfamiliar path.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV

We all are in a habit of doing things a certain way. I still keep a diary to log all my daily tasks. I tried stopping once and found that I couldn’t even set out to clean the house, because I was used to planning my day and ticking off the list as I go about accomplishing them. This is not a bad habit, and without it, I am afloat, but occasionally I need to not do it and let the course of the day just happen. Will it leave me flustered? Maybe a little. Will I still feel like I’m accomplishing everything? Maybe not. But I should not let it control me.

If we are to look at obstacles in different Spirit-led ways, we need to let go of the old ways. We need to place our confidence in Christ who will strengthen us and the Holy Spirit who was sent to help us. We should approach these hurdles and say the words David said: “In your strength I can crush any army; with my God I can scale any wall.” Psalm 18:29 KJV

Your spirit was made new the day you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. Let’s work on the renewing of our minds and letting go of the old ways of doing things. Let’s embrace the sometimes unfamiliar paths the Spirit leads us on.

I hope this message encourages you to be still and let the Holy Spirit guide you.
