Are you prepared?

Are you battle ready?

Jesus is the author and the finisher of our faith. (Read Hebrews 12:2) We have the victory in all circumstances, because he has overcome the world! (Read John 16:33)

While going through a tough time, the Lord reminded me that I am to proclaim my victory over the situation, because the battle was already won.

But as my focus waivered, I let circumstances and the opinion of others direct the way I perceived myself, instead of clinging to who I am in Christ.

Doubt settled in my mind as to my calling and grieve pushed me into a place where I had to fight against a spirit of heaviness and self pity, as well as a prideful attitude. I am thankful that God restored me.

In 2014 I went for life coach sessions. During one of those sessions, I remembered that a former music teacher said that one day I would be a music conductor.

A conductor’s role is to interpret the score and guide an orchestra (or choir) to perform it. If one instrument is out of tune or plays to the wrong tempo or at the wrong volume, it will influence the outcome. Every musician in the orchestra has to focus on the conductor for guidance.

While I’m not a conductor of an orchestra, I am reminded that I am a conductor of my life. God has already written the score for my life and with the help of the Holy Spirit, I can create the life I long for; by speaking life giving words over myself and all of my circumstances. I can choose life instead of death. (Read Deuteronomy 30:19)

God has already laid out the plans for our lives (Read Jeremiah 29:11) and has given his Word as a sword with which we can do battle against any onslaught of the enemy. In fact we have a whole set of armour. (Read Ephesians 6:11 -13)

Jesus has given us the authority to speak into situations in our lives. To claim the victory even if we don’t see it at the time. We have to find our strength in him and rejoice in him always. We must put on a garment of praise and trust that our ashes will be turned into beauty.

While the battle is still ongoing, I hold fast to the promise that Jesus will never leave me and that as I patiently (and not so patiently as I should) endure, that the victory is already mine.

“I waited patiently for the LORD; And he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.” Psalm 40:1-2 KJV

I’m reminded to sharpen my sword by immersing myself in God’s Word until it is written on my heart.

Are you ready for battle?

Let’s be thankful that we have the Word of God to guide our paths, that we have the Holy Spirit to help us in our journey, and that Jesus gives us strength so we are able to do all things.

Blessings
