Love, bless, pray

As we journey through life, we constantly need to navigate between truth and lie and who are friends and who are foes.

Yet, our battle isn’t against flesh and blood, but against unseen spiritual forces.

But where do we start? How do we discern between friends or foes?

"A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: And there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother." Proverbs 18:24 KJV

It starts with ourselves. We have to show ourselves friendly, being the friend someone can count on when times of trouble comes, being willing so sacrifice your own desires to meet someone else’s need.

Do you have such a friend? Are you that friend to someone else?

The true enemy comes to steel and destroy, making it hard for us to love others and being willing to pay the cost to make a friendship work. Especially if you have been hurt.

" But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you." Luke 6:27 - 28 KJV

Lately I’ve been challenged with this verse. It is easy to fall in the trap of only thinking of yourself. Of seeing others as being your enemies because of pain and hurt caused. To feel used only to be cast aside. But as I went through my days, praying for the Lord to heal my brokenness and help me to forgive those who has wronged me, the more I felt led to see them through God’s eyes. They are not the enemy, so I’m not to wage this war in the natural, but in the spiritual.

Ephesians 6:12 Paul urges us to see that our battle isn’t against flesh and blood, but against forces in the unseen world and evil spirits in the heavenly places. Jesus knew that, hence why he said that we should love, bless, pray and do good things for our enemies, because the battle is won in the spiritual first, and we overcome evil by doing good.

Are there people you have put under the heading of enemy in your life? How can you take a small step towards loving, blessing, praying and doing something good for them? The first step is the hardest and also the most important, because the devil doesn’t want you to start.

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might." Ephesians 6:10 KJV

Don’t let the real enemy steal your joy, peace and confidence in the Lord. Stand firm in the Lord’s strength, put on the full armour of God and pray in the Spirit. The battle was already won. Choose your battle ground wisely.

Standing and agreeing with you for reconciliation! May you draw ever closer to God.
