Reaching for new things

Are you ready to reach new heights? Or do you feel like you’ve reached a ceiling…

We are moving to a new house soon. It is not a big move, like you have to organise things for a big moving truck, but big enough to have to pack everything in boxes and crates and try and plan which things need better wrapping than others. The biggest challenge is to decide when to pack.

We currently have a room full of boxes, crates and odd stuff waiting to be moved, yet everything isn’t packed up as we still must get by for another week…

Sometimes setting goals are like that. You want to start on everything, yet somethings need more time to plan before you can. It is easy to feel overwhelmed with the enormity of it all. You are ready to pack away the old habits, failures and successes of the previous year, yet somethings tend to linger in the back of your mind. Like with preparing for a move, you must sort through each item and decide what you would like to keep and what needs to move to the bin.

How do you start?

Focus

We need time to focus and connect with God. Once we submit to his will, we have more clarity, and his peace enfolds us. We can think clearly because our wayward thoughts are focused on Him.

Romans 12:2 KJV "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

Write

Writing down the possible goals that enters your mind, helps us to sort through the chaos and helps us to remember small details that we would otherwise miss.

Prioritising

Whenever I prioritise goals and start to focus on accomplishing them, even the smallest goals get done without me even having to focus much energy on them. Choose the goals that are worth spending your time on wisely.

Organise

One of the tools I use to help me plan set times to focus on priority goals, is a diary. It helps me to break down the goals into manageable tasks that can be achieved. Setting a deadline helps to keep me motivated to perform the tasks. It also helps me to create space for everyday life happenings: kids sport schedules and family time.

This new year, take the stress from having to achieve all things at once and break it down into achievable tasks. Make your deadlines realistic, without putting unnecessary pressure on yourself. Allow God to take the lead. Trust in Jesus to give you the strength you need. Follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance as he wants to help you to fulfil your purpose.

Ephesians 3:20 KJV " Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,"

Let’s commit ourselves and our plans to the Lord, he will do a good work within us as we trust and seek him.

May you experience God’s goodness this year and evermore!

Catherina
