How can we submit valiantly?
Romans 10:17 KJV
[17] So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Submission is the act of yielding to authority or to be accountable to another.
Valiantly means to do something in a way that is brave or determined when a situation is difficult. (Cambridge Dictionary)
Courage is to have mental or moral strength.
How can we submit valiantly? It takes courage to submit to the will of God. To accept that his will for your life is greater and better than what you can even think or imagine.
Many times in the Bible we read God telling his children to be strong and courageous. But in order to do that, they need to submit to God’s will. They need to agree with his plans and take a bold step of faith. Valiant in the Bible was used to describe warriors. We are in a spiritual war, and we need to go about our days valiantly through the power of the Lord within us.
Hebrews 12:9 KJV
[9] Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
How do we come to a place of submission?
To submit to authority takes strength of character. Our character is developed by the challenges we face. Our faith grows as we start to trust the Lord more fully in every season of our lives, through reading and listening to the Word of God and by declaring life-giving words over our circumstances.
John 15:7 KJV
[7] If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
We need to spend time with Jesus. I was a lot like Martha in the Bible. Constantly working, and when I wasn’t working I found something to do. I was restless and couldn’t sit still. But Jesus wants us to sit as his feet like Mary. These past 5 years of slowing down, I found that my days goes a lot better if I make time to read the Word and pray before I start my day.
Do you want to know the plans God has for your life? Be courageous by spending time in the Word, sitting at Jesus’s feet and submitting to the will of God for your life.
Jeremiah 33:3 KJV
[3] Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
Submit to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, he wasn’t just given to be a comfort, but to help us hear and discern so that we can walk in the calling that is on each and every one of our lives.
What are some areas in your life that you need to submit to the Lord?
Forgiveness is faith in action and takes courage. By forgiving others, we submit to God’s will that we forgive others just as He has forgiven us. Submission is not a weakness, it is a strength. You don’t have to do it on your own, you can rely on the Holy Spirit to guide you and Jesus to give you the strength to do all things. The enemy doesn’t want us to forgive, because he knows it puts a barrier between us and God and places us in bondage. God recently guided me to be able to forgive. Once I understood that He helps us through the Holy Spirit, a great weight and burden was lifted. Each day as I submitted to his guidance, I could feel the freedom, and now I can pray for those individuals and bless them, because Jesus gave me the strength I needed and the Holy Spirit prayed for me when I couldn’t.
Romans 8:26-27 KJV
"Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God."
May you submit valiantly to the will of God. Thank the Lord that you can go about your day valiantly through Him which gives you the strength you need to do all things.
Growing with you!
