Do you have an attitude of holding on to God’s promises even when your circumstances doesn’t look favourable?
We all face some major challenges at times. How we approach these obstacles determines if they remain mountains or become flat plains.
Recently I’ve been challenged a lot about my purpose. Staying focused seemed to be very difficult and I had a lot of ideas sprouting in my head. I felt kind of overwhelmed with it all. Can you relate to that? Have you had days so fully packed that you thought to yourself: “Why am I doing all of this again?”
1 Peter 5:8 KJV "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:"
Be clear-headed
There are a few tactics the devil uses to rob us of our effectiveness as Christians. One such tactic is to intimidate you. We have to constantly remind ourselves that we do not have a spirit of fear as 2 Timothy 1:7 says. Another tactic is to keep you so busy that you don’t have time to spend in the presence of the Lord. To combat this we should pray and ask the Holy Spirit to help us to prioritise what is important and let go of the things that are not.
We should remain watchful.
To be watchful means we should be actively alert and aware of what is going on around us. We should carefully observe our spiritual state to make sure there is no sin in our lives that is giving the devil a foothold. We should recognise when we are being misled and cast all our cares onto the Lord so that we can keep our vision clear.
How can we overcome him? Resist him, and remain steadfast in your faith. To resist means to stand against him in the authority of what Jesus did on the cross. Pray to the Lord every time you feel you are under attack.
Holding onto the Lord’s promises as well as your identity in Christ, is crucial for the times we are living in. Put and keep on the full armour of God. Submerge yourself into God’s Word. Remind yourself that even if it seems like a mountain is in front of you, nothing is impossible for God!
Matthew 19:26 KJV: "But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible."
