Hebrews 12:2 KJV "looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."
During May and June, we looked at how to move out of a familiar place to a new destination.
Decluttering
Our familiar place included spiritual clutter such as unforgiveness and bitterness sprouting from past hurts, generational curses and ungodly soul ties. These items are not put up for sale or given away, instead they are discarded like old garments, making room for God’s blessings in our lives.
Leave behind
We had a look at leaving old ways behind and creating new habits that will honor God by:
- Recognizing faulty thinking
- Making the choice to leave the old things behind by choosing to obey God’s word
- Creating new habits that aligns with our new spirit in Jesus Christ
Embracing change
Here we had a glimpse into the lives of Daniel and Paul. We read how they prospered in all circumstances by focusing on the Lord and obeying his commands above all else. We learnt that God would let us prosper and work out everything for our good as we put our trust in him.
In today’s post, we will have a look at how we can flourish in this new destination that God has led us to for the glory of His name.
Proverbs 29:25 KJV "The fear of man bringeth a snare: But whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe."
Let God’s Word reign in your heart
God wants to lead us to a place where we will prosper, but because we fear what others may think, we often remain and look back to the old ways of doing things. Yet, God wants us to do what is right and trust in him. He has given us the Holy Spirit so that by his grace we will have courage to step into the new destination he has set before us: our promise land.
If we rely on our own strength to accomplish things, we will almost always fall in the trap of seeking our self-worth in the eyes of other people and seeking their permission to step into the good things the Lord has for us.
Yet God’s word says that Jesus is the one who strengthens us to do all things.
Where are you currently relying on your own strength instead of listening for God’s guidance through the Holy Spirit and trusting in Jesus to give you strength?
God is our refuge and fortress
When we place our trust in the Lord, we are in a safe place. Jesus has ransomed us by his blood, making us righteous in God’s sight. As we keep our focus on him, we can choose to live godly lives. We can prosper in all things, because God has given us the Holy Spirit to guide us, council us and comfort us. He is the Spirit of Truth that empowers us to accomplish the good works that God has set apart for us to do.
How can you spend time with the Holy Spirit today so that you can learn to walk in God’s ways?
Be thankful in all circumstances
Being thankful when things feel hopeless, is not an easy task, yet in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 we are instructed to be thankful in all circumstances, as this is God’s will for us. When we are thankful, we take the focus off the enemy and place it on Jesus Christ; we start to see God’s goodness and are reminded of his faithfulness in our lives. The joy of the Lord fills our hearts and we are strengthened. We are filled with courage, because we are reminded that if God is for us who can be against us.
Write down 3 things that you are grateful for today. How does it reflect God’s goodness in your life? What burdens can you lay down at his feet today?
Conclusion
When we focus on Jesus and place our trust in the Holy Spirit for guidance, we can flourish in our new destinations. God has plans for us to prosper, we must trust him completely to receive the abundance He has for us.
I hope that you are encouraged to put your trust in God. You are a conqueror through Jesus Christ. You are strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Embrace your new life in Christ!
